Hx7 Ultrasonic Positioning System (PinStem)

The hx7 is the newest hexamite positioning system, with the possibility of extreme precision localization to indefinite number of reference points. It comes with dynamic mapping, i.e. the user can place his reference points anywhere, click a button and the system creates a reference map automatically. Mobile units can fix their 3d positions (xyz) within this reference map, either as completely autonomous units or through a central control. Each unit can be set on the fly as either an ultrasonic position receiver, ultrasonic transmitter, ultrasonic beacon and/or ultrasonic echo ranger. In one and the same acquisition cycle the device can deliver distances from itself to multiple reference points, including the distance to the nearest object.

Both collision avoidance and absolute 3d position can be acquired during the same acquisition cycle. The same device can send a request to other units to emit respective distances from itself to all others in range. Hx7 internal communication network uses 2.5Ghz RF link with a range bubble of about 30m (radius) expandable to approx. 100m, each device comes with a unique RFID and alias designation facility. Each hx7 device is an internet server and an access point with an IP address, where precise location data can be streamed to any internet connect location on earth.

Brief Example.

The illustration on the right shows the distance vectors between every device. Raw data stream coming from this system may have the form shown on the right. The hash sign # represents the numbers that display the distance in terms of millimeters. R22 for example measured the distance to Beacon or transmitter T21 to be A##### millimeters. It can also display the distance from itself to its nearest echo. E.g. R21 T21 A#####, here ##### will represent the distance from  itself to the nearest object reflecting the signal.

Hx7 and PinStem
The hx7 ultrasonic positioning system is constructed using the PinStem modular concept, it is fully compatible with processor boards that operate on the PinStem structure. The data produced by the structure can be accessed through a standard USART TTL interface, or PinStem one pin TTL, or through internet or access point IP address. PinStem is a normal hot spot to which the user connects the same way he connects to any other hot spot.  The user may at his discretion add processor system of choice as more become available for PinStem, currently two processor systems are available, Xmega arduino successor, and/or the arduino processor itself the ATmega328, this opens wealth of programming to the PinStem structure. Both processor systems come with a special GNU PinStem C-compiler, bootloader + scrambler so programmers can secure the code they may write for the PinStem, and upload or make available on the internet. miniature arduino PinStem atmega328

The PinStem (click for a flash overview of PinStem)

The PinStem is a multi-processor, parallel processing platform based on a minimal surface area for 36 pins in rows or 9 pins. Technology shrinks to new levels every decades as more is crammed into smaller volume. On the right is a hx7 signal conditioning board with a 9dof or (9 degrees of freedom IMU). |This chip measures 3x3mm square, the distance between the pins in the pinarray on the edges is 2.54mm or 0.1". The board size is a vast overkill, yet the board is about as small as they get, 35x35mm.
